Computer warranty lookup
Pick your laptop or desktop maker. We link directly to the manufacturer's warranty-check page so you can find out whether your machine is still covered — and what kind of coverage it has — in under a minute.
What to bring up at the shop
Two things help most:
- Serial number or service tag — usually on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop, or inside the battery bay on older models.
- Approximate purchase date — gives the warranty status context even if the database is out of date.
If you can't find either, we have utilities that pull the serial from the system itself — bring the machine in and we'll read it off for you for free.
Frequently asked
My laptop is under warranty — should I send it to the manufacturer or use you?
It depends on the issue and your timeline. Manufacturer warranties are free if your problem qualifies (covered hardware defect), but shipping to a regional service center typically adds 1–3 weeks. We do free pre-warranty diagnostic — we can tell you whether your issue is likely covered, back up your data, and even help package it for the mail-in. If it's outside warranty or you need it back fast, we fix it locally in 1–3 days.
What if my warranty is expired?
Then the manufacturer charges full retail — usually higher than independent repair. Bring it to us; we quote the repair for free and you decide.
What about extended warranties from Best Buy / Costco?
Those usually go through Geek Squad or Asurion. Same trade-off: covered work is free but slower. Out-of-coverage work is often cheaper at an independent shop.
Will sending my computer to the manufacturer erase my data?
Often yes — most manufacturer service centers do a factory reset as part of the repair process, even if your repair is hardware-only. Back up before you ship it. We do this for free if you drop it off first.
